A Specialist School at the heart of Devizes is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their team in a full-time position. The role will involve supporting students in the classroom, all of whom have additional needs. This may include Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, behavioural challenges or communication difficulties. This is therefore the perfect role for someone looking to gain experience in this field before going on to further study.
As a Teaching Assistant, your day-to-day will involve supporting the students in the classroom, making sure they understand the task at hand. At this school, well-being is just as important as academic success, so you will ensure each child is supported socially and emotionally, and guarantee that school is a place where they feel happy and safe. Behaviour management and personal care may also be required.
This would be a fantastic opportunity for a graduate interested in becoming a Therapist, Counsellor or Psychologist. This vital first-hand experience will allow you to go onto further training, gain experience working alongside various Therapy teams and give you an insight into different Therapeutic approaches and how to support pupils who need additional support.
The Specialist School caters for pupils between 5 to 19 and is looking for a graduate who is caring, considerate and resilient. They are looking for someone who is positive, enthusiastic and fun. An understanding of Psychology, Special Educational Needs and Mental Health will be beneficial.
