A driven and high-performing secondary school in Colchester is seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Mathematics to start in April Term paying to scale. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maths teacher with strong leadership skills, or an ambitious second-in-department ready to take the next step, to drive excellence and raise attainment across KS3-KS4.
The Role:
- Lead and manage the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
- Develop and implement a challenging, knowledge-rich Maths curriculum
- Monitor pupil progress and implement strategies to raise achievement
- Support, coach, and develop members of the Maths team
- Analyse data to inform intervention and curriculum planning
- Contribute to whole-school improvement and strategic planning
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
- A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject
- Proven experience teaching Maths at secondary level (KS3 and KS4)
- A track record of strong pupil outcomes
- Leadership experience or clear readiness for middle/senior leadership
- Excellent behaviour management and organisational skills
- A passion for inspiring confidence and resilience in Mathematics
