Academics are currently working on an exciting opportunity with a well-established SEN college that is seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef Instructor to join their team on a part-time basis (Tuesday to Friday) starting from September 2025. This post is ideal for a passionate culinary professional with a strong background in special educational needs (SEN), specifically within a post-16 college setting.

The Role: You will be responsible for delivering engaging, practical cooking sessions tailored to learners with a range of additional needs. You will support students in developing life skills, independence and employability through the preparation and cooking of meals in a safe and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver inclusive and differentiated cooking lessons for post-16 SEN learners.
  • Plan and prepare schemes of work in line with the post-16 SEN curriculum.
  • Create a positive, supportive classroom culture that fosters independence and confidence.
  • Ensure a strong focus on health, hygiene, and safety in the kitchen.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff and therapists to meet individual learning needs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience teaching in an SEN college environment (post-16).
  • Strong understanding and delivery of the post-16 SEN curriculum.
  • Professional chef background with relevant culinary qualifications.
  • Excellent classroom management and the ability to adapt to a variety of learning needs.
  • A nurturing and patient approach, with a genuine passion for inclusive education.

Desirable:

  • Experience with EHCPs and working alongside multidisciplinary teams.
