We are working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Canterbury that is seeking an experienced and compassionate Year 6 Teacher to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher who is confident in managing behaviour, building strong relationships and creating a structured yet nurturing learning environment that supports both academic and emotional development.
You will be teaching a small, tailored Year 6 class of pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. The school offers a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach, so patience, resilience and adaptability are key qualities for this role.
Key Responsibilities- Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour in a positive, consistent way
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and pastoral staff
- Creating a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
- Helping pupils develop both academically and emotionally
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
- Has experience working with students with SEMH / SEN / challenging behaviour
- Is calm, resilient and confident in behaviour management
- Has strong classroom presence and relationship-building skills
- Passionate about making a positive, lasting impact on vulnerable young people
Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students. £170 - £230 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, Term time only. You MUST have right to work in the UK in order to apply - no Visa sponsorship. On site parking included.
