Welsh-Medium Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an experienced and committed Welsh-speaking Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming Welsh-medium primary school in Blackwood. The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, working closely with teachers, the ALNCo, and external professionals to ensure pupils are fully included and supported in their learning through the medium of Welsh.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ALN
- Support pupils with a variety of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language, and social, emotional and mental health needs
- Assist in delivering differentiated learning activities in line with individual development plans (IDPs)
- Promote pupils' wellbeing, independence, and positive behaviour
- Contribute to monitoring progress and maintaining ALN records
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
Essential Criteria:
- Fluent Welsh language skills (spoken and written)
- Proven experience working with pupils with ALN in a primary school setting
- Knowledge and understanding of the ALN Code for Wales
- A patient, nurturing, and flexible approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3 or equivalent)
