Academics is working in partnership with supportive SEN and alternative provision schools in Huddersfield, who are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their passionate team.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who need extra guidance to manage their emotions and behaviour in a positive way. You’ll provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping students develop confidence, self-regulation, and improved engagement in learning.
Key Responsibilities of a Behaviour Mentor- Support students with behavioural, social, and emotional needs both in and outside of the classroom.
- Implement strategies and interventions that promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Build trusting relationships to encourage confidence, motivation, and progress.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and parents to ensure consistency in support.
- Track progress, attendance, and engagement, providing feedback to senior staff.
- Model positive communication and resilience for students.
- Experience working with children or young people with behavioural or SEMH needs.
- A calm, confident, and empathetic approach to challenging situations.
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and relationship-building skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management principles.
- Backgrounds in youth work, sports coaching, psychology, or education are highly valued.
