Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant with Paediatric First Aid training seeking flexible, temporary and ongoing work in Early Years settings across Barnsley? Academics are supporting a number of nurseries and primary schools with Reception and Early Years units who require confident, caring support staff to help children thrive during their formative learning years.

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing positions

Pay: 88.94 - 95 per day (dependent upon experience, training, qualifications and client rate available)

Start Date: ASAP or from a suitable start date

About the Role

As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils aged 3-5 with early communication, personal development and play-based learning, helping them build confidence, friendships and independence. Your Paediatric First Aid qualification ensures a safe environment where children can explore and learn with peace of mind. This temporary, ongoing role is perfect for candidates who enjoy working within Early Years environments and want flexibility around their lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support learning across Nursery & Reception (EYFS)
  • Assist children with language, social and emotional development
  • Deliver small group sessions and 1:1 activities when needed
  • Support early phonics, early maths and fine motor development
  • Observe and record progress to support early learning journeys
  • Use paediatric first aid knowledge where appropriate
  • Promote positive behaviour and independence
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing Early Years environment

Candidate Requirements

  • Early Years / Level 3 TA qualification (essential)
  • Paediatric First Aid training (essential)
  • Experience in an EYFS or nursery setting
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
