We are seeking a caring and dedicated Behaviour Buddy to join our team in Lancing. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide essential support to children with unique challenges, including autism, ADHD, and behavioral issues, helping them feel safe, supported, and empowered. Key Responsibilities for a Behaviour Buddy: As a Behaviour Buddy , you will work closely with children who may display challenging behaviors, including physical outbursts. Your calm, encouraging approach will help them feel secure and understood. Support children with physical and medical needs, which may include assistance with tube feeding. The Behaviour Buddy provides this care with utmost sensitivity and attention. Apply proactive techniques to help manage and de-escalate difficult situations, contributing to a calm and positive classroom atmosphere. Help students build social, emotional, and academic skills according to their individualised education plans (IEPs), encouraging growth and confidence in each child. Monitor children carefully, especially those at risk of running away, ensuring they feel safe and that you are aware of their needs. As a Behaviour Buddy , your role is critical in keeping children secure. Work alongside teachers, therapists, and other staff members to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment, enhancing your impact as a Behaviour Buddy . Ideal Candidate for Behaviour Buddy: Experience: Prior experience with children who have special needs is desirable, especially with autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviors. Skills: A calm, patient, and adaptable attitude, with excellent communication and behavior management skills. Training: Knowledge of behaviour support, safeguarding, or SEN support would be an asset.
