In this vital role, you\’ll be working closely with a specific student or a small group of students, helping them overcome academic, emotional, or behavioural challenges and reach their full potential. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build experience in education or special needs support.
Key Responsibilities of a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant:
- Personalised Support: Provide targeted, one-to-one assistance tailored to the student\’s specific learning needs-whether academic, social, or emotional.
- Learning Facilitation: Help deliver engaging and accessible lessons, adapting materials and activities to suit the student\’s learning style and pace.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and record the student\’s development, regularly sharing updates with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure consistent progress.
- Emotional and Social Guidance: Create a supportive and nurturing environment, helping the student build confidence, independence, and social skills.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and parents to implement effective learning and support strategies.

- Empathy & Patience: A calm, compassionate approach to supporting students with additional needs, especially during challenging moments.
- Adaptability: An understanding that no two students are the same, with the ability to adjust your approach to suit individual needs.
- Strong Communication: Clear, respectful communication with students, staff, and parents to ensure everyone is aligned on goals and progress.
