Overview
Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants in Halifax. An energetic and compassionate individual is needed to support a secondary student with SEN needs in Halifax. The role involves supporting a student who is transitioning from primary to secondary school, with autism, epilepsy and associated medical needs, personal care requirements, and a focus on Speech and Language and communication (PECS and partial BSL used). There is an ILDP and an EHCP in place.
Responsibilities
- Form meaningful relationships with students
- Be confident in behaviour management and de‑escalation
- Be kind, empathetic and dedicated
- Be willing to undertake an element of administration
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant; suitable for someone with a primary SEN background who is happy to work in a secondary setting as a 1:1 assistant
- Ability to work with a student with autism, epilepsy and complex medical/ personal care needs
- Experience with Speech and Language support and communication methods (PECS and partial BSL)
- Flexible and adaptable to school arrangements; DBS check required (enhanced)
