Academics are seeking an experienced and engaging Teaching Assistant to join an SEN School in the New Forest area, between Brockenhurst and Lymington. This is a full-time, temporary to permanent contract starting after half term, ideally on Monday 2nd June.
Working hours are 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday-Thursday and 8.30am - 4pm on a Friday. This is a term-time Teaching Assistant role working 39 weeks of the year, paying £13.68 per hour. The school caters for pupils aged 7-19 years who are diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome and other associated needs on the autistic spectrum.
You will be required to support pupils across the school in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. The suitable Teaching Assistant will have experience of supporting children with special educational needs, ideally within an SEN environment. You will be empathetic, nurturing, able to manage varying levels of challenging behaviour, and have the ability to think on your feet and adapt to situations.
This is a challenging environment to work in, but also very rewarding. Children who attend this school display various levels of challenging behaviour combined with other complex needs. This role is suited to someone who enjoys the variation of working in this type of environment and has a passion for working with and supporting children with special educational needs.
You will be joining an experienced, very supportive team of senior leaders, teachers, and support staff and will be provided with the necessary training.
