Teaching Assistant

Overview

Do you have experience working with children with SEND and emotional needs?

I have a very welcoming mainstream primary school based in Horbury looking for an experienced teaching assistant to join their team in September 2025. This is a long term position until Easter 2026 with a possible contract for the right person.

Role

As a teaching assistant you will be working closely with the class teacher in KS1 and the SEND team to support the pupil with SEND needs on a 1 to 1 basis. You will be expected to help the pupil engage positively with learning and school life.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the pupil with learning as well as emotional needs
• To implement the school behaviour policies and strategies
• Maintaining a safe and positive environment at all times
• Assisting the classroom as a teaching assistant wherever needed
• Building relationships with the pupil as well as staff members and parents

Ideal Candidate

The ideal teaching assistant will have experience supporting children with various SEND needs and will have a positive, calm approach. You will be engaging and be able to supports the needs of children with various needs
