The Role:

As a Speech and Language Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external speech and language therapists to support pupils with identified speech, language, and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored support to pupils with speech and language difficulties, both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Implement strategies and programmes developed by speech and language therapists.
  • Track and record pupil progress, sharing findings with relevant staff.
  • Adapt communication techniques to suit the needs of individual pupils.

About You:

Essential:

  • Experience supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in speech and language support (e.g., ELKLAN, or similar).
  • Previous experience in a school or early years setting.
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEN provision.
