This role is for a SEND Teaching Assistant in Chelmsford, Essex, starting in January 2026. It is a full-time, long-term position with the view to move to a permanent contract for the right candidate. The school offers excellent support and training, making it a great opportunity for the rest of the academic year.
The Role:
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher to provide excellent learning to all pupils with a range of abilities.
- Providing support and assistance to individual students or small groups.
- Supervising pupils outside the classroom during lunchtime, field trips or break time.
- You may be required to work collaboratively with outside specialists, adopting a multi-agency approach.
The Applicant:
- Hold a current DBS on the update service or be willing to have one processed.
- A Teaching Assistant or other relevant qualification is desirable but not a necessity.
- Knowledge of the additional needs that a child with SEND may have, and how to support them.
- The applicant should be a patient, compassionate, calm, and approachable individual who is good at building rapport with pupils.
- You must have a desire to make a difference to young people's lives.
- Have experience working with children or young people.
- Have GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.
