Academics in Canterbury are looking for a Level 3 qualified Nursery Room Lead to join a nurturing, child-centred kindergarten in Chartham, Kent. They are looking for an energetic and inspiring Room Leader to join their team as soon as possible.
This role is ideal for someone who believes in gentle parenting approaches, respects children as capable individuals, and enjoys thinking differently about early years education.
About the role
As a Nursery Room Lead you will:
- Lead the day-to-day running of your room, creating a calm, engaging, and inclusive environment
- Plan and deliver meaningful, child-led activities in line with the EYFS
- Support children’s emotional wellbeing using gentle, respectful behaviour approaches
- Mentor and support practitioners within the room, modelling best practice
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Complete observations, assessments, and planning to a high standard
- Ensure safeguarding, health, and safety procedures are always followed
About you
We are looking for a Nursery Room Lead who:
- Holds a Level 3 Early Years qualification (essential)
- Is available to start ASAP
- Brings energy, warmth, and creativity to their practice
- Has a strong understanding of gentle parenting / respectful care
- Is an alternative thinker — reflective, open-minded, and not afraid to move away from traditional methods
- Has leadership experience, or is ready to step up into a Room Leader role
- Communicates confidently with both adults and children
