Are you passionate about helping young people build confidence, develop resilience and achieve their goals?

Are you a graduate or experienced support worker looking for a rewarding role working with children and young people?

A specialist school in Wokingham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Mentor to join its team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to support young people who may struggle with engagement, behaviour, emotional regulation or accessing mainstream education.

As a Youth Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who may have additional needs, including SEMH difficulties, ADHD, ASD and challenges with social interaction. Your role will involve building positive relationships, encouraging participation in learning and helping students develop the personal and social skills needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

You will work alongside teachers and support staff to provide consistent guidance and encouragement. The successful candidate will be approachable, patient and resilient, with the ability to motivate young people while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

As a Youth Mentor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who need additional support.

  • Working with teaching staff to support individual targets and personal development.

This Youth Mentor position is particularly suitable for Psychology, Sociology, Criminology and Education graduates considering careers in teaching, youth work, educational psychology or mental health services.

Experience working with children or young people through education, sports coaching, youth groups, residential care or similar settings would be advantageous. However, candidates with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to supporting young people are also encouraged to apply.
