Position: KS1 Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Rotherham, South Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply
Pay: £100 - £140 per day (dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay)
Start Date: ASAP or a start date that works for you
About the Role
As a KS1 Higher Level Teaching Assistant in Rotherham, you will support teaching and learning across Years 1 and 2, helping pupils develop their early reading, writing, numeracy and independence.
Depending on the school, the Higher Level Teaching Assistant may deliver pre-planned lessons, lead classroom activities, support targeted interventions or cover a class during teacher absence. Duties will vary across Rotherham schools.
Key Responsibilities
- Support learning across Years 1 and 2
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and lead activities when required
- Support early literacy and numeracy development
- Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
- Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback on progress
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a Teaching Assistant or HLTA role
- Relevant HLTA qualification or suitable experience for the position
- Experience supporting KS1 pupils
- Confidence leading learning activities and managing classroom routines
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one
