Attendance Officer to join their busy school administration team.

The Role

As Attendance Officer, you will take responsibility for monitoring and improving pupil attendance, working closely with parents, carers and school staff to identify concerns and put appropriate support in place.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Monitoring daily attendance and ensuring school records are accurate and up to date.
  • Following up on unexplained and persistent absences with parents and carers.
  • Recording and updating attendance information using the school's MIS.
  • Identifying attendance patterns and emerging concerns.
  • Working closely with pastoral staff, teachers and the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Supporting the implementation of attendance strategies and interventions.
  • Producing attendance reports and maintaining accurate records.
  • Building positive and professional relationships with parents and carers.
  • Escalating attendance concerns appropriately and in line with school procedures.
  • Providing general administrative support within the school office when required.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and following safeguarding procedures at all times.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have

Previous experience working within a school environment - essential.

  • Experience within attendance, school administration, pastoral support or a related role.
  • Experience using

SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom or another school MIS .

  • A good understanding of school attendance procedures and safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence communicating with parents, carers, pupils and colleagues.
  • The ability to manage sensitive and sometimes challenging conversations professionally.
  • A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to work independently.
  • Reliability, professionalism and a genuine commitment to supporting pupils.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is required.
