A specialist SEN school in Reading is seeking a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to join its team as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for graduates and experienced support staff who want to make a positive impact on pupils' learning, development and wellbeing.
As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, potentially including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, communication difficulties and learning disabilities. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
- Assisting teachers with differentiated activities and individual learning plans.
- Supporting communication, social development and independent learning.
- Helping pupils manage daily routines and transitions between activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Working collaboratively with school staff to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
This Specialist Teaching Assistant position offers valuable experience for individuals considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, occupational therapy or specialist SEN support. Previous experience in a school, nursery, care setting or similar environment would be beneficial, but applications are also welcomed from candidates with transferable skills.
