Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time opportunity in a supportive and inclusive secondary school? We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Outstanding mainstream secondary school in Tower Hamlets, East London. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual who wants to make a real difference to the educational and personal development of students with additional needs.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SEN team to provide tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will help students access the curriculum, develop their confidence and independence, and overcome barriers to learning.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN.
  • Supporting students to engage positively with learning and classroom activities.
  • Working alongside teachers to implement individual support strategies.
  • Helping students develop their academic, social and emotional skills.
  • Supporting students with personal care and/or physical needs where required.
  • Assisting with safe movement and mobility in accordance with school procedures.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Contributing to an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Experience working within a school or educational setting is desirable.
  • A patient, caring and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people's education and wellbeing.
  • A valid Manual Handling Certificate - essential.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to undertake one.
