We are recruiting for a Graduate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist therapeutic education setting supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH and other barriers to learning. About the School
An independent SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) school for boys and girls, aged 7-17, in Esher, Surrey. Building relationships with our pupils is key to their therapeutic approach. The Role
As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students both academically and emotionally. You will help to create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment where every student feels understood, supported and encouraged to succeed.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting children and young people with Autism, SEMH needs and other additional learning needs
- Providing one-to-one and small group support
- Helping students to access personalised learning programmes
- Supporting emotional regulation, wellbeing and positive behaviour
- Building strong, trusting and professional relationships with students
- Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other members of the wider team
- Supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals
