Academics are working with specialist schools and alternative provisions across East Sussex and Brighton, and we're looking for Teaching Assistants who can provide calm, consistent and nurturing support to pupils who may have struggled within mainstream education. These roles can be incredibly rewarding for candidates who enjoy building relationships and helping young people develop the confidence and skills to re-engage with education. Pupils may have experience of: Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs Trauma and adverse childhood experiences Anxiety Emotional regulation difficulties Challenging or distressed behaviour ADHD Autism Attachment difficulties School refusal / EBSA Difficulties accessing mainstream education Your role may involve: Building positive, trusting relationships Supporting emotional regulation Helping pupils manage challenging situations Encouraging engagement with learning Supporting behaviour and positive routines Working on a 1:1 or small-group basis Supporting social and life skills Working closely with teachers and wider pastoral teams We're particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in: Teaching | SEN | Youth Work | Social Care | Residential Care | Mental Health Support | Sports Coaching | Behaviour Support | Children's Services School experience is desirable, but relevant transferable experience can be equally valuable .
