A specialist school in Cheltenham is looking for a caring and resilient Mental Health Assistant to join its supportive team. This full-time opportunity offers hands-on experience supporting pupils in a nurturing, structured environment.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
  • Help students manage emotions, anxiety and behaviour.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
  • Support learning and encourage confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Work alongside teachers, pastoral staff and specialist professionals.

This Mental Health Assistant role is ideal for a Psychology or Criminology Graduate, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker or someone with relevant personal or professional experience. Previous experience with children is beneficial, but enthusiasm, empathy and a positive attitude are most important.

The school provides a supportive environment where you can develop your understanding of mental health, behaviour and additional needs. As a Mental Health Assistant, you will gain valuable experience that could support future training in Psychology, Counselling, Therapy, Teaching or Youth Work.
