Working Pattern: 32.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9.00am-4.00pm, 41 weeks per year (38 weeks term time plus 3 weeks during school holidays).

Byfleet Primary School is seeking an ambitious, organised and proactive School Business Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping the future of our school.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced School Business Manager, Bursar, Finance Manager, Operations Manager or aspiring SBM looking to broaden their leadership responsibilities. You will work closely with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Local Academy Committee and central Trust team to ensure the school's finances, operations, premises, compliance and people management functions are delivered to the highest standard.

The Role
As School Business Manager, you will provide strategic leadership across a broad range of operational areas, including:
- Financial planning, budgeting and monitoring
- HR administration, recruitment and personnel management
- Payroll and contract administration
- Safer recruitment and maintenance of the Single Central Record
- Premises, facilities and contractor management
- Health & Safety and statutory compliance
- Procurement, contracts and value for money
- School lettings and income generation opportunities
- Line management of the office team and caretaker
- Policy development and governance support
This is a varied and influential role offering genuine opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the school whilst remaining closely connected to day-to-day operations.

- Has strong financial and organisational skills

- Has excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Builds positive relationships with staff, parents, governors and external partners
- Is confident working independently and as part of a team
- Can provide effective leadership and line management
- Understands the importance of safeguarding, compliance and confidentiality
- Is committed to delivering high standards and continuous improvement
Previous experience within a school, academy trust or education setting would be advantageous, although we welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience in finance, operations, administration or business management.
