Teaching Assistant in Pontefract

Academic Appointmentsis proud to be working in partnership witha specialist SEN provision inPontefract, to recruit experienced and compassionateSecondary SEN Teaching Assistants starting in September. These roles are offered on anad hoc basis, providing flexibility to suit your availability, with a view to becoming permanent for the right candidates, while making a real difference in the lives of young people.

This SEN Provision, caters to students with a range of complex needs including moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), autism spectrum conditions, and communication challenges. Youll work alongside a dedicated team of professionals to support students both in and out of the classroom.

Daily Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and group support for pupils with a range of SEN
• UseTeam Teachstrategies to safely manage challenging behaviour
• Support pupils in developing social, emotional, and academic skills
• Assist with personal care where necessary
• Collaborate with teachers and therapists to implement individualised learning and care plans

Requirements:

• ValidTeam Teachtraining (within the last 2 years preferred)
• Previous experience working in an SEN or specialist provision
• Strong communication skills and a nurturing, patient approach
• Willingness to support personal care needs when required
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
