Role Overview:
We are seeking a resilient and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 2:1 support for a young person with additional needs in a school setting. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about making a positive impact on pupils’ learning and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver individualised support to a young person with complex needs, working as part of a 2:1 provision.
* Implement strategies outlined in the pupil’s EHCP and behaviour plan.
* Support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development in line with school policies.
* Use Team Teach techniques to manage challenging behaviour safely and effectively.
* Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes engagement and progress.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to ensure continuity of care.
* Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents, and interventions.
Essential Requirements:
* Team Teach training (current certification).
* Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
* Strong behaviour management skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Resilience, patience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
* Experience working in a special school or alternative provision.
* Knowledge of autism, ADHD, and other additional needs.
