As an HLTA, you will support pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including communication difficulties, sensory needs, learning disabilities, and SEMH challenges. You will also play a key role in delivering and supporting cooking/food tech sessions designed to build independence and life skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of accessible lessons
  • Leading and supervising small groups and occasionally whole classes
  • Delivering cooking / food technology sessions, including preparation, organisation, and health & safety
  • Providing targeted interventions tailored to individual needs
  • Assisting with assessing, tracking, and recording pupil progress
  • Helping maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals

Requirements:

  • HLTA status or strong TA experience with the ability to take on HLTA responsibilities
  • Experience working with pupils with complex or additional needs
  • A minimum Level 4 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
  • Cooking / food tech experience (school-based, catering, or life-skills delivery)
  • Strong behaviour management, patience, and resilience
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and support
