We are looking for a Band 6 Entry level Speech and Language Therapist to work in a full-time role based at a specialist autism school. Salary will be up to £40k.

You will be working in an innovative educational setting dedicated to 130 pupils with complex needs associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders for ages 4-16 years. You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team made up of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Art Therapists aligning them closely with the school’s objectives, ethos, and teaching practices.

Duties:

  • Manage your own clinical caseload
  • Be a key player in pupil referrals and therapy service optimization.
  • Champion continuous professional development, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.
  • Advise families and members of the teaching team in relation to pupils’ speech, language and communication development to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Provide both 1:1 and group therapy for individuals and groups of pupils.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registered
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in operational management within therapies.
  • A deep commitment to inclusive education, ABA and a passion for working with pupils with SEN and Autism.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to mentor, coach, and inspire your team.
  • Openness to understand ABA is needed but experience of ABA isn’t essential at this time as this can be trained.
  • You will need non-verbal experience alongside extensive experience of working with autism and complex needs.
