Are you looking to take the next step in your finance career or begin your journey toward a professional accountancy qualification? We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Assistant Management Accountant to join our dynamic Central Finance team.

As part of the Management Accounts team, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely month-end management accounts in line with the finance timetable. Reporting directly to one of our two Financial Controllers, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of finance tasks.

This is an ideal role for someone who is either currently studying or planning to pursue a professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).

Every day you will…

  • Prepare and submit daily cash flow reports to the Group function, supporting monthly cash flow reforecasts and liaising with Credit Control as needed.
  • Assist in compiling quarterly VAT returns by generating system reports and populating relevant spreadsheets for review.
  • Support the wider finance team in maintaining prepayment schedules across the Group and ensuring accurate prepayment releases across all business units.
  • Calculate and record standard and ad hoc accruals, including framework-related entries.
  • Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations and the management of candidate loan accounts.
  • Post bank transactions and support the reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Contribute to the preparation of weekly and divisional reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Process standard and ad hoc journal entries, particularly around temporary payroll, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies in line with best practices.
  • Carry out various month-end duties, including ad hoc reporting and analysis.

To thrive in this role, you will ideally have the following capabilities…

  • Previous experience in a similar accounting/finance role
  • Preparing to start accounting qualification-AAT or working towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA
  • Experience with multiple systems, integrations and API platforms
  • Strong Excel capabilities (V-Lookups/SumIfs/Pivots at a minimum)
