We are looking for an excellent teaching assistant to join our TA team. This post would be particularly suitable for someone with a degree or with existing TA experience. Experience of working with children, a degree or Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification (or equivalent); excellent numeracy and literacy skills are essential, as are good communication skills and the ability to relate to people. Applications from graduates without a teaching assistant qualification will be considered. This role would be particularly suitable for a graduate looking to gain experience prior to starting teacher training or an ECT.

Requirements

  • Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age
  • Numeracy/literacy skills at a level equivalent to NQF Level 2
  • Completion of the Teaching Assistant Induction Programme
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • An understanding of the role of the Teaching Assistant and other professionals working in the classroom
  • Ability to use relevant technology, e.g., photocopier
  • Understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning
  • Willingness to undertake minor first aid training as appropriate

The post will be subject to enhanced DBS checks, satisfactory references and will be exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Pre‑employment checks include satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, and other relevant checks.
