Jointer's Mate / LV Jointer (Scottish Power Authorisation Mandatory)
Full time / Permanent
Responsibilities:
- Lead the cable jointing and terminations, earthing, and cabling installations on HV networks.
- Ensure all cabling works are installed in accordance with quality assurance, engineering design, time constraints, statutory requirements and relevant standards.
- Use of cable avoidance equipment (CAT).
- Testing installations and recording results.
- Mark up drawings showing joint positions, wiring design changes etc.
- Mentoring and coaching less experienced staff in developing their knowledge and skills.
- Carry out work in a safe manner, always adhering to health and safety procedures and act as a competent person to receive safety documentation.
- Identify and eliminate hazards and potentially dangerous situations working to Method Statement, Risk Assessments and carrying out point of work risk assessments (POWRA).
- Proactively look at ways to enhance the service offered by the business and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of company processes.
Role:
- Support the cable jointer.
- Supporting the work on development sites and the public highway.
- Understanding utility plans.
- Assisting with the cable jointing.
- Assistance with connections to substations.
- Preparation and correct use of tools and machinery.
- Carry out works in line with established safety procedures.
- Supporting the completion of risk assessments and maintain safe working practice and maintaining accurate records.
