This is a working supervisor role that will assist the maintenance department as well as lead.

  • Typical Duties
  • Ensure that assigned work areas operate in a pro‑active safety focused methodology in compliance with all OSHA and company safety guidelines.
  • Understand the set up and operation of all shop equipment in the fabrication shop.
  • Inspect equipment periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance.
  • Report any defective equipment to the Manufacturing Shop Manager so corrective action can be taken.
  • Continually evaluate processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product.
  • Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintain departmental supplies, tools, equipment, and order as necessary.
  • Ensure the completion of all required maintenance paperwork, records and documentation.
  • Responsible for staffing to include interviewing process.
  • Assign staff to workstations and direct key work functions.
  • Providing ongoing performance feedback to shop staff which includes but not limited to completing and conducting performance reviews; providing ongoing performance coaching; celebrating and rewarding successes and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Supervisor will be required to be trained on all shop equipment associated with completing tasks for work to be performed, including any additional recommendations from the EHS manager.
  • Manage training for employees to ensure each employee has been properly trained on all equipment and tools so the employee can properly and safely perform their work.

Work closely with the EHS manager to verify training is current.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5 years' related supervisory experience; shop maintenance experience necessary.

A high school diploma or GED required; advanced education in welding, metal fabrication or related field preferred.

  • Experience in metal fabrication and machining environments preferred.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain a wide range of fabrication equipment, including press brakes, shears, welders, rollers, plasma tables, and other shop machinery.
  • Experience and certification for material handling equipment to include forklifts.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Automotive repair experience is a plus. Can‑do attitude.
