Shift: Monday to Friday, 2:00pm - 10:00pm (PM Shift)

About the Role

Abstract Recruitment is currently recruiting Warehouse Operatives for a leading chilled food manufacturer based in Milton Keynes. The company supplies all major UK retailers and offers a supportive, fast-paced working environment where teamwork and open communication are key to success. As a Warehouse Operative, you will play an essential role in ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient handling of raw materials, packaging, and finished products. You will support production by maintaining stock accuracy, preparing customer orders, and ensuring goods are received, stored, and dispatched in line with food safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Goods In, Stock Handling & Dispatch
    • Receive, check, and store deliveries of raw materials, packaging, and consumables.
    • Accurately check deliveries against paperwork.
    • Label, record, and book stock into the warehouse management system.
    • Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders accurately and safely.
    • Palletise finished goods ready for dispatch.
    • Load and unload vehicles safely using pallet trucks or forklifts (where licensed).
    • Complete dispatch documentation and maintain accurate inventory records.
    • Ensure finished goods are stored correctly and dispatched on time.
  • Quality, Food Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
    • Carry out product and process checks, reporting any issues promptly.
    • Operate warehouse equipment safely, including pallet trucks, scanners, and forklifts (where trained).
    • Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic warehouse in line with HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards.
    • Report damaged, contaminated, or out-of-date stock immediately.
  • Stock Control
    • Carry out regular stock checks and support stock takes.
    • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure full product traceability.
    • Assist in identifying and resolving stock discrepancies.
  • Operational Support
    • Supply production lines with raw materials and packaging as required.
    • Support the implementation of new warehouse processes and equipment.
    • Work closely with Production, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth daily operations.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Essential
    • Previous warehouse experience (food manufacturing experience is advantageous but not essential).
    • Good understanding of warehouse operations and stock control.
    • Ability to follow written instructions, batch codes, and traceability procedures.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
    • Knowledge of Health & Safety, GMP, HACCP, and food hygiene practices.
    • Good communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Desirable
    • Counterbalance or Reach Forklift Licence.
    • Level 2 or Level 3 Food Safety qualification.
    • HACCP training or certification.
    • NVQ/SVQ in Food Manufacturing, Production, or a related discipline.
