We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Customs and Air Freight Operator to join our growing logistics team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment supporting the smooth and compliant movement of goods across international borders.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing customs processes, liaising with clients and authorities, and ensuring all import and export documentation is accurate and compliant with UK customs regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage import and export declarations using the Customs Declaration System (CDS)
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all required customs documentation
- Liaise with clients to collect required documents and provide guidance on customs procedures
- Stay up to date with customs regulations and communicate updates internally and to clients
- Work closely with shipping lines and internal teams to ensure efficient logistics operations
- Resolve customs-related issues and act as the primary contact between clients and customs authorities
- Advise on tariff classifications, duty rates, and applicable trade agreements
- Conduct audits of customs entries to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of customs documentation and transactions
- Proven experience as a Customs Operator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations and tariff classification
- Experience with CDS and HMRC systems
- Knowledge of IPR processes and Sequoia software
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities
- High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
