We are looking for an experienced Advanced General Builder / Multi-Trade Operative to join our growing team working across responsive repairs and maintenance within occupied residential properties throughout Hampshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and customer-focused tradesperson with strong all-round building experience and the ability to work independently to deliver high-quality repairs within agreed service levels and timescales. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm position offering a salary up to £38k per year. This is an immediate start. A permanent contract will be offered to a successful candidate after 8-12 weeks of work.

About our client: Our client is a construction contractor based in Fleet, Hampshire. Your role would be based in Newbury, Reading, and Basingstoke. Our client carries out building, refurbishment, and maintenance work across a range of sectors, including social housing, healthcare, education, defence, and commercial properties. Our teams handle general building repairs and planned maintenance to kitchen and bathroom replacements, mechanical and electrical work, and void property turnarounds. We have a strong and growing workload across the south of England and are always looking for skilled tradespeople to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out responsive repairs and maintenance in occupied residential properties
  • Undertake advanced carpentry and general building repairs
  • Complete kitchen and bathroom repairs, refurbishments, and installations
  • Carry out wall and floor tiling to a high standard
  • Vinyl flooring installation and repairs
  • Patch plastering, making good, and minor plumbing works
  • Fencing repairs, replacement, and installation
  • External groundworks including: Paving, Slabbing, Concreting, Drainage, Pathway repairs
  • Brickwork repairs, repointing, and external maintenance
  • Diagnose building faults and complete repairs independently
  • Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents' homes
  • Complete work within agreed SLAs and target timescales
  • Accurately record job details and material usage

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Multi-Trade Operative or Advanced General Builder
  • Strong carpentry background
  • Extensive experience in responsive repairs and occupied properties
  • Skilled in: Carpentry, General building, Kitchen and bathroom works, Tiling, Vinyl flooring, Fencing, Groundworks, Basic plumbing, Patch plastering
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry or Construction
  • Experience working within social housing or local authority contracts
  • Asbestos Awareness certification
