We are currently recruiting for an experienced Night Shift Warehouse Controller to join a busy and fast-paced operation in Kettering. This is a fantastic temp-to-perm opportunity. The successful candidate will initially be employed through Abstract Recruitment for 13 weeks.

Salary: Up to £35,000 per year + £1,116 MHE allowance. Total potential package: up to £36,116 per year. Salary includes the applicable unsocial hours rate.

Shift Pattern: Sunday night to Friday morning, 22:00 to 06:30, 8.5-hour shifts including a 30-minute break.

The Role: As a Warehouse Controller, you will take a key leadership role within the night operation, managing the client relationship and ensuring a high-quality service is consistently delivered. You will lead a team of Shift Coordinators, support their development and ensure teams work safely while achieving operational targets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Night Shift Coordinators
  • Ensuring the operation runs safely and all procedures are followed
  • Managing team performance and monitoring hourly operational updates
  • Proactively communicating with the client to ensure deadlines and expectations are achieved
  • Developing the team and supporting succession planning
  • Building strong working relationships across all departments and with the customer
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with internal and external audits

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a Warehouse Controller, Shift Manager, Operations Supervisor or similar leadership role
  • Strong people-management experience within a target-driven environment
  • Experience running a shift or department
  • Strong warehouse operations background
  • Experience using and analysing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Knowledge of resource modelling and distribution processes
  • Experience developing and building teams
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to confidently manage a multi-functional team
  • Flexible approach and ability to work independently
  • MHE licence Reach Truck, PPT, Counterbalance or HLOP desirable
