Class 2 Multi-Drop Delivery Driver
Location: Darwen
Salary: £28,000 – £31,000 basic, plus £100 monthly bonus for no incidents, annual discretionary bonus based on group, branch, and individual performance, and a contributory pension scheme.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:15 pm (there may be days you run over 4:15 pm, which will be classed as overtime, but most of the time you will finish at 4:15 pm).
The Company: Our client is a leading distributor of thermoplastic sheet, rod, and tubing, servicing the fabrication and signage marketplace. Owned by the global leader in the manufacture of acrylics, the distribution team is ideally placed to deliver excellence in supplying and supporting their customers. As part of their expansion, the company is recruiting a Class 2 Driver for their distribution centre in Darwen. If successfully recruited, you will experience a first-rate working environment, free on-site parking, and numerous other benefits.
The Role: Multidrop (around 10 to 15 drops per day). Mainly covering the North West, with occasional trips to Scotland (approximately once or twice per month, involving an overnight stay in a sleeper cab).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide an “on time and in good condition” delivery service.
- Ensure the vehicle is loaded correctly, safely, and securely without causing any damage.
- Represent the company positively when delivering goods.
- Report any faults, accidents, or incidents promptly to the Warehouse & Distribution Manager.
- Assist with picking goods for loading and unloading deliveries correctly.
- Report all stock discrepancies or damages promptly.
- Attend regular Branch Staff meetings.
- Carry out daily vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
- Correctly operate the Tachograph system.
- Keep the vehicle clean and well-presented.
- Follow all health and safety procedures within the sales and warehouse environment.
- Carry out other duties as requested by the Warehouse & Distribution Manager.
The Candidate:
- Hold a valid Class 2 (Category C) licence and CPC qualification.
- Have experience driving 18-tonne lorries for multi-drop deliveries.
- Have a minimum of 12 months HGV driving experience.
- Be willing and able to do occasional trips to Scotland with overnight stays (sleeper cab provided).
- Have a professional approach, excellent communication skills, strong numeracy skills, and attention to detail.
- Be energetic, motivated, enthusiastic, and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Have a clean driving licence.
