This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established Publishing business based in Oxford in a broad and highly visible Financial Controller role. Reporting directly into the Board, this position will suit someone who enjoys owning the full Finance function from top to bottom and is equally comfortable operating strategically as they are rolling up their sleeves day to day. The business is looking for a hands-on and proactive Finance professional who wants to make the role their own, bring fresh ideas, improve processes and really put their stamp on the function. This is a hybrid role working in the office 3 days a week.

Key duties:

  • Producing monthly management accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reports, alongside month-end duties such as reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
  • Managing cash flow, including forecasting, liquidity monitoring, international payments and internet banking
  • Driving internal controls and process improvements, while providing financial insights to support business decision making
  • Preparing VAT returns and ensuring ongoing tax compliance
  • Supervising the AR Administrator, reviewing ageing reports, maintaining accurate records and supporting effective debt collection
  • Overseeing Accounts Payable processes, including multi-currency payments and payroll preparation for external accountants
