This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of core financial reporting and partner closely with operational teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. You'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial insights, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and driving performance across multiple productions. This is a 3-month temporary assignment (possibility of extension) within a dynamic TV/Entertainment business, operating on a hybrid basis with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
Key Duties
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including full P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, and detailed variance analysis against budget and forecast.
- Prepare and deliver insightful commentary on financial performance, highlighting key risks, opportunities, and drivers of variance.
- Partner closely with production teams and department heads to support budgeting and reforecasting cycles, ensuring assumptions are robust and aligned with operational plans.
- Track and monitor production costs across multiple projects, ensuring spend is accurately recorded and in line with approved budgets.
- Analyse project profitability, providing clear insight into margins, cost overruns, and efficiency opportunities.
- Support cash flow forecasting by analysing working capital movements, production schedules, and payment timelines.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, including scenario analysis where required.
- Maintain and improve financial controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and supporting audit requirements.
- Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, and cost reallocations.
- Support the year-end process, including audit preparation, reconciliations, and responding to auditor queries.
- Work with finance systems to extract, validate, and analyse financial data, identifying areas for process improvement and increased efficiency.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making and business initiatives.
Key Skills
- Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a management accounting position.
- Background in TV, Entertainment, or a Creative industry is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial data clearly.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with non-finance stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficient in Excel.
