We are working with a fast-paced, high-growth Fintech business based in London that are looking to bring in a Payroll Accountant to support both UK and international payroll operations during a period of continued expansion.
As Payroll Accountant, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of UK and international payrolls for approximately 150 employees and contractors. This is a hands-on role covering everything from processing payroll data to producing payroll journals and supporting the month-end close. You’ll work closely with the People team, external providers, and the wider Finance team.
This is a 6 month contract with possible scope for extension. The role offers great flexibility with the role being 1 day in the office and 4 from home.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process UK and international payrolls (c.150 employees/contractors), working with external providers as needed
- Ensure all payroll transactions are accurate, compliant, and processed on time
- Prepare and post payroll journals, reconciling payroll-related accounts
- Assist with month-end close activities related to payroll
- Support the preparation of reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate employee records in payroll systems
- Respond to employee payroll queries and liaise with relevant teams to resolve any discrepancies
- Stay up to date on relevant tax laws, statutory requirements, and compliance obligations in all jurisdictions covered
- Proven experience processing UK payroll; experience with international payroll is essential
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting and month-end processes
- Experience working with external payroll providers and global payroll systems
- Proficient with Excel and comfortable working with large datasets
- Experience with BrightPay or NetSuite is a bonus
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Fintech or tech sector experience is desirable but not essential
