We’re partnering with a creative boutique agency that specialises in working with clients across the Fashion and Media space, supporting some truly exciting and recognisable brands. They are now looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their growing team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with experienced Management Accountants and the CFO, gaining exposure across a varied client portfolio in a collaborative and creative environment. Operating on a hybrid working model, this role offers the chance to build your bookkeeping expertise while developing a broader understanding of finance within dynamic, fast-paced industries.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients across various industries including Fashion and Media
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping duties, including processing invoices, receipts, and payments
- Manage sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly
- Carry out regular bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines
- Assist in the preparation of management accounts, including profit & loss (P&L) statements
- Review and analyse P&L reports, identifying variances and highlighting any anomalies to senior team members
- Support month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and journal postings
- Monitor client accounts, resolving discrepancies and liaising directly with clients where required
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal processes
- Handle general administrative tasks related to finance and bookkeeping
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing timely and professional support
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping or Accounts Assistant role
- Ideally a background within a Fashion, Media or Creative industry
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Experience preparing or supporting with management accounts, including P&L
- Confident with bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and ledger management
- Studying towards or keen to study AAT/ACCA/CIMA (desirable)
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in fast paced environment working to tight deadlines
- Takes pride in their work, demonstrating a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, while being self-motivated and a collaborative team player
