Financial Controller

Role: Financial Controller Location: StevenagePackage: £60,000 – £70,000 + benefitsThe OpportunityWe’re partnering with a fast-growing, global business to appoint a Financial Controller – a key hire as the company continues to scale internationally. This role is ideally suited to a high-performing Finance Manager ready to step into their first Financial Controller position, offering clear progression, increased ownership, and exposure to a multi-entity, international environment. Given the importance of team leadership and collaboration, this role is predominantly office-based in Stevenage, enabling you to work closely with and develop the finance team while embedding strong processes and controls.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Control

• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Ownership of consolidated financial reporting across international entities
• Ensure compliance with IFRS / UK GAAP
• Preparation of statutory accounts and management of the external audit process

Technical Accounting

• Act as the internal lead on technical accounting matters (e.g. revenue recognition, leases, group consolidations)
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies in line with business growth
• Support the business through complex or non-routine accounting scenarios

Controls & Process Improvement

• Develop and strengthen financial controls and governance frameworks
• Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and reporting
• Support finance systems enhancements and wider transformation initiatives

Team & Stakeholder Management

• Manage, mentor, and develop a small on-site finance team
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure strong financial discipline
• Act as key point of contact for auditors and external advisors

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Currently operating at Finance Manager level or above
• Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS or UK GAAP)
• Experience within a multi-entity or international business
• Confident leading reporting processes and managing audits
• A hands-on leader who enjoys developing teams in a face-to-face environment
• Keen to take the step into (or further develop within) a Financial Controller role
