A reputable construction business in Watford are seeking an impressive Finance Controller with a salary up to £80,000!

A growing construction business in Watford are looking for a confident, commercially minded and qualified Financial Controller to lead the finance function and support the next phase of growth. This is a hands-on role with real influence – perfect for someone who enjoys improving processes, strengthening controls, and partnering closely with directors. This is a full-time office based role.

The Role

• Own all financial reporting, controls and cashflow management
• Produce monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and project reports
• Improve processes around WIP, gross margins, revenue, and cost control
• Lead budgeting and financial planning, providing insight for senior leadership
• Maintain statutory compliance, audit readiness and financial governance
• Enhance systems, reporting frameworks and internal controls
• Partner with operational teams to support project performance and decision-making
• Manage and develop the finance team
• Build strong relationships across the business, providing clear financial guidance
• Drive change, challenge assumptions, and improve financial discipline

The Successful Candidate

• Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Strong experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager
• Confident with cashflow, project accounting and margin analysis
• Advanced Excel and strong systems knowledge (Xero ideal)
• Comfortable in an SME environment – proactive, hands-on, and commercially aware
• Construction experience beneficial but not essential
