This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative finance team, gaining exposure to production finance, budgeting and forecasting while supporting the financial performance of high-profile TV productions. Weβre looking for a proactive Finance Assistant with strong accounting fundamentals who is keen to develop their career, with a clear progression pathway into an Assistant Management Accountant role within approximately 18 months. This is a hybrid opportunity, with three days per week in the office and the remainder working from home.
Key Duties
- Accurately code, check and allocate invoices and purchase orders across multiple business divisions
- Manage the invoice authorisation process and resolve any related queries
- Review weekly freelance cost sheets and ensure production cost coding is accurate
- Assist with the recording and reporting of daily, weekly and monthly production costs
- Support the preparation and analysis of production cost estimates alongside operational teams
- Monitor actual spend, forecast final costs and report on remaining costs to complete
- Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and other month-end accounting entries
- Assist with the production of monthly management accounts, including reconciliations and financial analysis
- Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, reconciling actual spend against budget
- Take ownership of fixed production contracts, ensuring accurate accounting treatment
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Allocate overtime costs and prepare expense returns
- Review travel expenditure and ensure costs are allocated correctly
- Support internal and external audit processes through the preparation of documentation and reports
- Assist with finance systems improvements, including ERP and production accounting system implementation
- Promote best practice around finance processes and purchase order compliance
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
- Maintain detailed process documentation for month-end and routine finance activities
- Support ad hoc finance projects, reporting and analysis
- Assist with sustainability reporting and data collection where required
- Build strong working relationships across Finance and Production teams, providing ongoing support to stakeholders
Key skills
- Previous experience in a Finance Assistant or similar finance role
- Studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA, or keen to continue professional studies
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, including debits and credits
- Good understanding of finance processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Confident working with large volumes of financial data
- Strong Excel skills and experience using finance or ERP systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across Finance and operational teams
