We're delighted to be supporting a growing accountancy practice in the search for an experienced
Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join their expanding team.
Working alongside a team of accountants and business advisors, you'll support a diverse portfolio of clients operating across the creative industries, including sectors such as design, fashion, advertising, media, film and entertainment.
This is a varied, client-facing role offering the opportunity to build long-term relationships whilst working across a broad range of businesses.
This opportunity would suit somebody who enjoys working closely with clients, thrives in a collaborative environment and is looking to continue developing their career within a modern, forward-thinking practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
- Process purchase and sales ledger transactions, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained.
- Perform bank, balance sheet and control account reconciliations.
- Prepare journals, including accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Support the preparation of year-end statutory accounts.
- Build strong relationships with clients, becoming a trusted point of contact for day-to-day finance queries.
- Work across a variety of cloud-based accounting systems, maintaining accurate financial data.
- Support the wider team with ad hoc accounting projects as required.
About You
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice is essential.
- A solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and VAT.
- Experience using Xero, Sage, Quick Books or similar accounting software.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working across multiple systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work directly with clients.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage your own workload effectively.
- Positive, personable and collaborative approach to work.
- Keen to continue developing your accounting career within a growing practice.
- AAT qualified or studying ACCA would be advantageous, but is not essential.
