Accounts Assistant & Administrator
Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 depending on experience
Location: Central London
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 6:00pm
Working pattern: Full-time, fully office based
We’re working with an established, family-owned fashion business based in Central London, who are looking for an Accounts Assistant & Administrator to take ownership of the day-to-day accounts and administration across the business.
This is a varied, hands-on position and would suit someone with a solid grounding in transactional accounts who is confident working independently and enjoys having ownership of their day-to-day workload.
The Role
You’ll be the main finance person based within the office, working closely with the wider team and external accountant. Responsibilities will include:
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Completing bank reconciliations across the businesses
- Preparing fortnightly payment runs and ad hoc payments
- Credit control and following up on outstanding balances
- Onboarding new customers and suppliers
- Maintaining accurate financial records and keeping the external accountant up to date
- Providing financial information for quarterly and annual returns
- Supporting the accounts for the company’s property portfolio using Xero
- Maintaining pricing and other Excel spreadsheets
- Petty cash and general expense administration
- Supporting with property insurance and related administration
- Handling customer and supplier account queries
- General office administration and wider ad hoc support
About You
We’re looking for someone reliable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility for their own workload. Ideally, you will have:
- 2+ years’ experience within an Accounts Assistant, ledger or accounts administration role
- Good experience with bank reconciliations, payments, AP/AR and credit control
- Confidence working independently without a large finance team around you
- Good Excel skills and strong attention to detail
- A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to manage a varied workload
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence dealing with customers, suppliers and external accountants
