Contracts Manager / Senior Contracts Manager
Absolute Civil Engineering Ltd carry out civil engineering across the North East of England as both a main contractor and subcontractor. We carry out infrastructure works for commercial, industrial and housebuilders as well as new build projects.
We are seeking individuals who are conscientious, self‑motivated, experienced, professional and keen to develop and grow with Absolute Civil Engineering Ltd.
Contracts Manager / Senior Contracts Manager must have a minimum of 15 years experience in civil engineering discipline, having been in a Contracts Manager role for a minimum of 5 years with a proven track record. Preferably from a site engineering or trade background and able to demonstrate continual growth to a current contracts manager position. Must have a minimum of HNC as well as an appropriate level of CSCS card and other qualifications applicable to the role. Must be able to lead from the front, able to form and update programmes of work, NEC Experience preferred and able to manage several sites covering differing work types at any one time. With great communication skills, IT littl e te and working closely with the commercial team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self‑motivated, hard‑working individual. The position would suit someone looking to continually progress to a more senior role in a fast‑paced civil company.
Engineer
Must have a minimum of 7 years experience in civil engineering. Able to set out using a total station, GPS, modelling experience would be advantageous and fulfil a full engineers role including QA records, quantifying materials, forming material requisitions, reconciliation, IT literate, working closely with the commercial team, O&M manuals, as‑built, value engineering etc. Must be willing to teach and develop those junior to him. Must be able to demonstrate continual development as an engineer. Must be able to adapt and carry out site supervision/management, as and when required and have a minimum of HNC as well as an appropriate CSCS card and other qualifications applicable to the role. Would be expected to oversee an engineering role over multiple sites.

The General Aims Will Be
- Training (including formal induction) to be provided on a regular basis to reinforce and update understanding of the Companys objectives, policies and procedures.
- Encouragement of job satisfaction and maintain efficiency and development. Staff will be involved / trained in a variety of skills to achieve flexibility.
- All employees will receive training in health, safety and welfare at varying levels in order to meet the needs of the individual and ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and codes of practice.
- The Directors will identify, at least annually, the training that will be required to help the Company meet its targets. Sufficient finance will be budgeted to achieve these aims.
- Career related further education should be encouraged where possible including use of external facilities such as local colleges.
- Promotion of National Vocational Qualifications, particularly in line with CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) cards.
- Regular Site Manager training and promotion of tool‑box talks.
- Standardise training records and trigger dates for refresher training.
- Obtain Investors in People accreditation.
- Formulate and implement CITB (or equivalent) accredited training plan.
- Implementation of staff and employee appraisal system.
