Job Summary
To follow the six steps of financial planning in executing the role of a FAIS licensed financial adviser. A professional introduction must be made to introduce the adviser and the services offered by the adviser. Upon client approval, the adviser may conduct a Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) in the disciplines of Investment, Life Insurance, and Estate Planning. Based on the concluded FNA, make recommendations to address single or multiple needs identified on behalf of the client. Advice recommendations must be presented under the license categories for which the adviser is accredited, using Absa-approved products deemed to meet the client\’s needs. Upon client acceptance, the adviser is required to implement the advice through Absa’s new business processes. The adviser must conduct regular reviews of client needs to assess the continued suitability of the solutions and propose changes as needed. The adviser must maintain ongoing Fit and Proper status to offer services under an Absa advice license.
Job Description
Accountability: To establish and maintain a professional relationship with all stakeholders (Client, Bank personnel, product providers, and Adviser Support staff)
- Participate in reciprocal lead activities and sales meetings to identify new or repeat business opportunities, utilizing Absa’s bancassurance structure.
- Assess client needs using recommended analysis tools, ensuring clients are aware of the full value proposition offered by AIFA.
- Prepare recommendations and quotes for appropriate risk and investment solutions based on client needs and profile.
- Present recommendations to clients, following all FAIS regulations regarding advice given.
- Follow all steps in the client engagement process as specified by Absa Advisers.
- Provide regular feedback to the Regional Manager on actions taken to progress leads to business.
- Network continuously with stakeholders in Everyday Banking and elsewhere to position the Adviser’s value proposition.
Accountability: Meet sales and growth targets
- Plan activities by identifying clients to approach during specific periods in conjunction with the Advice Executive.
- Use leads from sources like Regional Managers and own prospecting to determine client needs.
- Use Absa’s Financial Needs Analysis tool (Avalon from Aug 2024) for comprehensive analysis.
- Obtain client consent to access existing policy information.
- Discuss solutions and recommend appropriate products or solutions.
- Generate and discuss formal recommendations, including product quotes.
- Complete necessary application forms upon advice acceptance and obtain client signatures.
- Ensure all compliance documentation is completed and submitted.
- Review client portfolios at least annually and maintain contact based on the contact strategy.
- Report on conversion rates and seek additional business opportunities.

- Accurately record Policy Relevant Information (PRI) numbers.
- Verify monthly commission statements for accuracy.
- Maintain an up-to-date client database.
- Follow up on unpaid premiums and lapses.

- Ensure staff understand their roles and receive relevant training.
- Provide coaching and participate in performance development.
- Maintain compliant record-keeping and ensure staff are fit and proper.
- Engage in business development strategies to maximize practice sustainability.
Accountability: Personal Development
- Attend training to attain and maintain accreditation and FAIS credits.
- Maintain honesty, integrity, and financial solvency to stay fit and proper.
Education
Bachelor\’s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas in Accounting, or a National Senior Certificate/Matric (Grade 12)
