ABS Consulting's Extreme Loads and Structural Risk Division is seeking an experienced Engineer to join our team. ABS Consulting is a worldwide multi-discipline industry leader in risk assessment, hazard mitigation, and management planning for natural, process, or threat-related hazards.

What You Will Do:

  • Consequence Analysis
  • Explosion, Fire, and Toxic Modeling
  • Explosion Testing and Similitude Modeling
  • Advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Nonlinear static, Nonlinear transient dynamic
  • Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analyses
  • Root Cause Analysis & Incident Investigations

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
  • Experience in fluid dynamics and energy emphasis
  • 5+ years of experience performing CFD modeling of dispersion/explosion using GEXCON FLACS
  • 5+ years of experience performing consequence modeling using DNV PHAST and SAFETI

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven track record of conducting fire, toxic, and explosion hazards analysis
  • Working knowledge of facility siting and/or Fire & Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA)
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with CFD modeling using ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, COMSOL, or equivalent
  • Programming/scripting experience (.NET, Python, VBA)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience as a consulting engineer

Reporting Relationships:

This person would report to the Director of Engineering.

Working Conditions:

Work is normally performed in an office environment. Duties may include site visits and limited overseas travel.
