Build your own division, without the risk of starting your own business. ABS Commercial Solutions is growing quickly, and we're appointing several senior commercial professionals to build, lead and develop new divisions across seven key sectors.
This isn't a typical Commercial Manager role. We're looking for commercially minded leaders who want the autonomy to shape their own division: winning new work, building client relationships and recruiting their own team, with the backing, resources and financial stability of an established business behind them.
This is a national role, so you can be based anywhere in the UK, working from home with travel to client sites and occasional visits to our head office. You’ll have real influence over your division's direction, the people you hire and the clients you work with, and you'll share directly in the success you create.
The role
- Identify, win and develop key clients and sectors to grow your division
- Build, manage and mentor your own commercial team
- Lead client relationships at senior level, including attending client performance meetings
- Ensure contractual compliance and value for money through robust review and validation
- Oversee post-contract commercial processes: change management, cost forecasting, payments, cost auditing and final accounts
- Negotiate and resolve contract claims and disputes
- Manage commercial and business risk proactively
- Work with client procurement teams on tender documentation and best-value delivery
About you
We're particularly interested in people who enjoy the business development, relationship-building and leadership side of commercial management, rather than purely overseeing projects and day-to-day delivery. You'll bring:
- A Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent (or experience suitable for the RICS Professional Experience Route)
- MRICS, or working towards chartered membership of a relevant institution
- Significant post-qualification experience, including managing projects as a Senior QS from pre-contract through to completion
- Strong working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts
- Excellent commercial negotiation and dispute resolution skills
- Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, graphs) and an analytical approach
- Confidence communicating with senior internal and external stakeholders
- Ideally, experience in one or more of our target sectors
What's on offer
- Up to £100,000 basic salary
- Annual profit share, with OTE of £130,000+
- 7% employer pension contribution
- Private healthcare
- Additional bonuses for securing new clients and building your team
- Genuine autonomy to build and lead your own division
